Help with how college works and will this plan work for me?
I currently live in Sacramento. I am a senior in High School and am graduating in December. Just for more info, I don't mind starting college Spring of 2010 or Summer/Fall 2010. So basically, I want to go to school in So Cal, however I don't know much about what schools are best for me and how to transfer. I read about some schools and was wondering if going to Santa Ana College to get my Gen Ed done with and then transfer to UCLA, would work? Is there a "guarranteed admissions contract" to trans for SAC to UCLA?

There are no guarantees for admission or transfer. Transferring into a college requires you to earn very good grades for your general ed in order for you to be accepted into UCLA. Prior to that, make sure that Santa Ana College is fully accredited, and make sure that UCLA will accept the transfer of credits for any classes you take. If you take the wrong classes, or if Santa Ana is not fully accredited, you may have to re-take a lot of classes in order to make up credits. A 101 class at a College is NOT always equivalent to another 101 class in another college or university. Highly rated schools such as UCLA are much harder and they know it, and they know that other schools will not be at their level. Go to US News & World report to find out detailed information on colleges, and average GPAs of transfer students. UCLA is one of the best universities in the country, and their admissions requirements will be very difficult to meet. Some universities still look at your high school grades and transcripts for transfers, so I hope yours are good. Good luck.
