How are you beating the heat? It's so HOT!?
It's 81 degrees down here in Santa Ana,California. It's worse in the house. The air conditioning doesn't work! All we have is fans!

I just jump into the swimming pool in the backyard and fill it with ice, but it takes a while for us because the pool's pretty big If you don't have a pool, try jumping around in the sprinkler or have a watergun fight if you're too mature for that, just bear it. 81 degrees isn't that hot, or maybe get your AC fixed

it's 84 here in NYC but it's not even hot. it's not humid it's not windy. feels like spring. it's not hot at all at the beach. we don't even use the air conditioner in our house it's not hot at all in NYC even though it's 84 it feels like 65 degrees.

81? Oh, my freaking god! I wish it was that cool here...that's not 'heat'! It's 98 here! I've got my A/C set to 81, and it feels like an icebox in my house compared to the outside. Toughen up already!

So, fix the air conditioning. I have a window unit which I use when needed.

Wow...81 is nothing, it's supposed to hit 101 today. I guess you could always go to the store and hang out there...they usually have ACs going.

Ya know I'm sorry to say I'm not having that problem this year. I live in Austin Texas and it has rained almost every day for the last 3 month. This years record rain fall, has ended a 6 year drought. Normally it should be in the high 90s already it has barely gotten above the 80's and at night it has really cooled off. It been very civilized. Normally its hot and everything is brown by now. What have we done to our planet?

Get a towel and put some ice in it. Roll it long ways and then put it on your neck. Sit in front of the fan. If you run out of ice, put cold water on the towel and leave a little wet, not to drippy, and sit in front of the fan. (I used to work in a dry cleaners pressing clothes, no air conditioning, with hot weather. We used towels on our necks and drank lots of weak tea!)

I have a AC but it doesn't come on when needed. So what I do is sit on the computer with the fan blowing on high in my face Have it in a window and have the window open. Or you could buy a small pool fill it with icey cold water and sit in it with your shades on drinking Ice cold beer. Or Kool Aid or what ever you like to drink.

it was 106 with 40% humidity today here in vegas. I beat the heat by not bitching about it.

I used to live in Coronado. I remember how hot it used to get. We didn't have air conditioning. What I used to do was to take a big box fan and put it in the window, facing in. If it is hotter inside than it is outside, this is a good way to bring the outside air in. This works great at night too. It feels like air conditioning. I used to jump into a cool shower or hang out in a cool bath sometimes too. I remember people getting on my case for feeling hot when the temp was only 81. However, it was too hot for me. Now we live in the midwest and the temp was in the high 90's for weeks. Fortunately, we have central air here so I just stay inside. Save your pennies. Maybe next year you can invest in one small window air conditioning unit. They sometimes go on sale at the end of the summer. It's rough living in the heat with no way to keep cool. Good luck, my friend.
