About Calderon criticizes AZ immigration law is this a harmless illegal landscaper will Mexico criticize arrest

Calderon criticizes AZ immigration law is this a harmless illegal landscaper will Mexico criticize arrest?
On Tuesday, police in Santa Ana arrested Roberto Jacobo Reyes, after DNA evidence linked him to the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in February. According to police, Reyes entered the girl’s bedroom through an unlocked window. Under questioning for that crime, Reyes has reportedly admitted to having assaulted at least four other victims, ages 11-22, in the same manner. Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told the LA Times: “His M.O. was to break into unsecured windows or unsecured doors.“ Reyes is currently being held in the Santa Ana City Jail on suspicion of felony assault to commit rape and burglary, while the Orange County district attorney prepares more charges. In 2007, Reyes was deported back to Mexico after serving three years in prison for burglary. While in prison, his fingerprints linked him to a sexual assault. In 1998, Reyes was arrested for DUI and driving without a license, he pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine. Past arrests also include charges for peeping and possession of stolen property. Though an illegal alien with a criminal record, Reyes was working for a landscaping business in Santa Ana at the time of his latest arrest. http://www.examiner.com/x-35821-Immigration-Reform-Examiner~y2010m5d19-Previously-deported-illegal-alien-admits-to-being-serial-molester

<scratches head> what is your question? Where were the LAWS in this case. This man was supposed to be deported after his jail time. Who dropped the ball? What makes people think that the new AZ law will be enforced when obviously NO ONE was enforcing the ones already in affect?

About How many windmills

How many windmills?
Could be built in southeastern California to tap into the Santa Ana winds? It seems like there is a ton of desert to work with. Is it possible to build enough windmills and tap enough energy to reduce the impact of the winds on the populated coastal areas?
Weather - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You could build windmills, but it would not be a very good idea. The Santa Ana winds are a seasonal phenomenon and only blow during the fall and winter. Even then they do not blow constantly. Wind farms are best build where there is consistent year-round wind.
2 :
I agree with Doc E 100%. The only thing I would add, to answer the second part of the question, is that windmills would convert only a very tiny fraction of the energy in a Santa Ana wind event and would not decrease the impact of the winds to any measurable degree.

About I have been struggling with either sinus or cold problems in Southern California. What works best

I have been struggling with either sinus or cold problems in Southern California. What works best?
Just moved to San Diego and I hear the Santa Ana winds are causing my problems. I've had these headaches every other day for about a month and a half. I've been to the doctor and they gave me antibiotics twice but I don't think it's an infection. I have bad headaches. I take Claritin D and take advil. Any other suggestions to do with this?

Try Astlin (prescription only) nasal spray. It is an antihistamine nasal spray with decongestant properties that works like a charm. Only down side is it tastes awful if you get it in your mouth.
2 :
you start to do yoga both time you can learn yoga on aastha channel at 5.30 am n 8 pm if you are not getting aastha channel then you visit www.divyayoga.com site n learn it they will give advice to you for some herbal treatment also.
3 :
I've had some sinus problems and now I've been using this nasal irrigator that I bought at the Vitamin Shoppe and it really works. It's kind of weird because the water goes in one nostril and out the other, but when my sinuses feel bad, or I have a cold, it's really worth it and it's drug-free! I don't know about the headaches, but if it's related to the sinuses, I think that may clear it up.
4 :
I use Zyrtec an allergy med, and also use nasal spray rhino Cort aqua, both work really good. Also try some children's dimatab, it is for colds and allergies, and the equate Wal-mart brand is cheaper and it has dosage for an adult as well as kids, it is great for colds and allergies. I have been to an allergist MD and went through all the scratch test etc.. $1000.00 later they don't know what my allergies are caused from, but the meds do work well. Thank God. Hope this helps. Take care and God Bless.
5 :
What works best for me is Clairitin D - behind the pharmacy counter now. And Ocean nasal spray to moisturize. You can use the Ocean Spray all you need, which is nice. It keeps your nostrils and sinuses moist in this dry windy time. And the D part of the Clairatin will be for a congestion and relief. Good Luck

Hi, and welcome to San Diego!!! They are probably causing your problems, and the dry weather is causing a lot of people I know the headaches....if they gave you antibiotics, then you must have an infection somewhere? I use Aleve for the headaches, and one Tylenol and codeine to relieve the pain...I also take cloricidin hbp, it is so it don't affect your blood pressure, and drink lots of water also..be sure you aren't dehydrated, from the decongestants, and drink plenty of water, because that will give you the headaches also...and go to the beach's the lakes, the mountains, point loma, la jolla, etc. lol....and enjoy beautiful San Diego!!!

About Should I go to the CA DMV tomorrow

Should I go to the CA DMV tomorrow? ?
Apparently the CA DMVs are being hit with layoffs or strikes? Has anyone been to the DMV today or yesterday? WIll the wait without an appointment be horrendous? I live in Tustin, so I would be going to the Santa Ana dmv around 12:30, after work. Has anyone been there this week? Should I drive instead to the Laguna Hills DMV? Would the wait be shorter there? I need to change my name on my license. How long did you wait and what did you get done? We went to the Santa Ana DMV yesterday and the wait was super short. No more than 15 minutes. I got in and got my stuff done. The dmv was surprisingly efficient an quick! We went around 2/3 in the afternoon. PS, we did NOT make an appointment and if you go to the CA dmv website is gives you real time wait times for the dmv locations. And it was pretty accurate.

its better to make an appoinment then just to show up you get better service and they know you are coming and nice thing about it you can go to any dmv in the state (you dont have to go to the closet one unless you want to)
3 :
OMG. STAY AWAY FROM ALL DMV's. I had an appointment at 12 and waited until 3:30ish before i was helped. NOT worth it.
4 :
Make an appointment, get there as early as possible, and plan on making almost a day out of it.

About Why do you blame (read below before you answer) the employer

Why do you blame (read below before you answer) the employer?
As an employer, I am legaly bound to verify a persons identity, social security number and work status (resident alien, green card, citizen). So, when I hire someone I ask for all of the documents to verify their status. I copy them all and put them in their job file. Many of these documents are bogus. How did they get them you ask? It is very easy. To prove my point, I went to Santa Ana, CA and found several open air stalls selling false ID and SS cards. Cheap too. $50 US. I called the local police and notified them of what was going on. They told me it was a federal issue. I called the FBI and was told is was an immigration issue. I called INS and was told that there were so many places like this that they would take a report but no other action would be taken. So, my point is, why blame the employer, when he has no way of doing the job the federal, state and local authorities should be doing? I would like to add that I am far from unique in the way I screen employees. I know many other small companies that do the same. It only makes good economic sense. to scrcpt It would make no economic sense to have mutiple employes with the same SS number. There woud be NO cost saving for the employer. What you hear is simply propaganda

1 :
Because not all employers are as dilligent as you. Many employers bring them over here by the truckload and provide them with those fake papers you found for sale.
2 :
Good point. Maybe in this case, the only solution is to only hire people fluent in english that can produce a birth cert. to verify they were American born.
3 :
I think the point is to blame the employers who don't do what they are supposed to do, like require SSN and ID I don't think that anyone is suggesting strict liability for employers who hire illegal immigrants
4 :
The employer is not legally responsible in that situation, unless it can be proved that the employer accepted the documentation , knowing it was false. If he shows the copies of the documentation he is not at fault if the are fake. The employee giving them would be.
5 :
I applaude your diligence, but what I don't understand is what are you (the employer) being blamed for? Hiring illegal immigrants? It sounds like you are doing what you are required to do, even going over and above.
6 :
This problem is bigger than simply you and one illegal employee. You can only do what you can do. If you accept these documents and the employee purports that they are legitimate, the crime of fraud is his and this is not on your shoulders. If the INS in particular and our society in general really wants to get serious about this issue, then the obvious answer is to put more resources into their enforcement efforts against places like the one you saw in Santa Ana.
7 :
Notify the news media. They love that stuff about passing the buck. I don't blame employers who try to verify an employees credentials. This is the government's fault for not having something in place for employers' to use for verification.
8 :
That is why that it has to be proven that you "knowingly" hired illegals before you are fined. I've read there is a new software available and the president has added 111 million to the budget to help employers identify illegals much quicker. Kudos for trying to be part of the solution. Too bad there are so many other employers out there that are not so honest.
9 :
I remember hearing on the news, that there's a number you can call to actually verify whether the person is LEGAL or NOT!!! They have some kind of database to check!! If you've done everything you can to verify, and are STILL in doubt whether they are legal, then i would NOT hire them!!! The government in many states are RAISING the fines, for those caught hiring illegals!!! And,like you said, there are so MANY fake i.d.'s,yet our government wants to allow ILLEGALS who have been here for five years or longer, to stay!!!! HOW can they TELL who's been here for five YEARS, or five MINUTES??? They can't!! ALL ILLEGALS MUST BE DEPORTED!!!!
10 :
Because there are employers that knowingly hire them, even bring them here, just as there are good ones who are deceived. You need to contact your congressmen, I myself would be writing a letter to INS too. Our taxes pay their salaries and they need to do their job.
11 :
It is just another way to see that illegals are not 100% responsible for all the immigration issue. And for everybody to see that the problem is much bigger than it seems.
12 :
In every case, the responsibility rests with those who are charged with enforcing our existing laws. You are among the honest employers who are doing everything they can from their end to be in full compliance with our existing labor and wage laws. So, resuming the strict enforcement of those laws would not affect you one way or the other. It would, however, affect those who: 1. Knowingly hire illegal immigrants and/or pay undocumented wages 2 Aid illegal immigrants in perpetrating frauds against honest employers (et al) 3. Smuggle slaves into the country 4. Hold slaves in "debt bondage" in our country. In the situation you cite, you held up your end of the bargain (and then some) in your efforts to be in full compliance with our existing laws. It was the INS who dropped the ball by openly refusing to hold up their end of the bargain.
13 :
I am very familiar with the city you are talking about. Crime is rampant, and no one is doing a damn thing about it. And we are supposed to welcome these criminals with open arms. It is sickening. I do know that most employees don't care. I appreciate the fact that you do.
14 :
From what I understand, if an employee has made an attempt at complying with the laws and documenting citizenship, he is not responsible for forgeries. How would he know unless the forgeries were obvious fakes?
15 :
I would like to personally thank you for at least trying to do the right thing even though it didn't do any good. We as the people only blame the employers that knowingly violate the law about hiring illegal aliens. For example I have found numerous reports of employers having multiple employees with the same social security number. When the employer does his payroll would it not be obvious that these employees are using fraudulent identification? When these types of flagrant intentional violations are ignored by the employer, they should be thrown in jail.
16 :
homeowners, and those needing a days work are more likely to hire an illegal so if we really wanted to get id of the illegals, we would have to stop hiring them for day labor. if there are no jobs they wont come.

Driving to a new job (for people living in orange county, CA)?

Go to mapquest and type in both your home address and the new job address, and you'll see the fastest way - will give you time & mileage for trip and you can calculate gas usage, then you can make up your mind.
2 :
From my experience, traffic is typically worse going the other direction (from Corona to your area). Is this an 8 - 5 job? If so you're probably looking at a little traffic, but it shouldn't be too bad considering most people are driving into Orange County from Riverside County to work, versus the opposite, so you should miss the worst of the traffic. According to Google Maps it would normally take about 30 minutes, but can take up to 1 hour and 30 minutes with traffic. Yikes! Definitely consider gas costs here.

About Questions about makeup artists

Questions about makeup artists?
Hi! I am 17 years old and I am really hoping to pursue a career as becoming a makeup artist. I've researched about this position on the internet many times, but my questions don't seemed to be answered. I am planning to take a class at Glammin Studios in Santa Ana, CA and I was wondering if that would be enough education to become a professional makeup artist. Are there any specific courses which I need to take at a college? Also, what is the annual income of someone who works at MAC and the annual income of someone who works at fashion shows or on TV sets?

Here are three excellent schools in the Los Angeles area that you should look into - L.A. School of Makeup (aka Makeup Designory, or M.U.D.), Cinema Makeup School, and Westmore College. I toured all three and ended up choosing MUD, but they are all excellent schools. You can find all of these online. They do give tours. Just call ahead first. Also look into JoeBlasco dot com, and to find any more type in a search on "makeup schools Los Angeles". Good luck!
2 :
Don't bother going to school, it usually a waste of money. Instead find an artist in your area, pay his / her day rate and learn from them for a few days. You can also apprentice under established artists. Read all the FAQs on this site for tonnes of info http://p082.ezboard.com/bmakeupandrelatedindustries Someone who works at MAC as a salesperson is usually not a working artist, they are paid crappy, retail wages, because it is a crappy, retail job. They are SALES people, judged on how much product they sell, not on their makeup skills. BTW, a lot of make up artists are no longer using MAC products because of the lowered quality (no longer stands up to professional use) and their ethics are questionable. The range of artist pay is $0 to millions, it all depends on your talent and networking skills. It takes a long time to build up your name and client base so my advice is to soak up as much information as you can and practice, practice, practice. Check out the above site, it will give you more than enough information to start out.

About How are you beating the heat? It's so HOT

How are you beating the heat? It's so HOT!?
It's 81 degrees down here in Santa Ana,California. It's worse in the house. The air conditioning doesn't work! All we have is fans!

I just jump into the swimming pool in the backyard and fill it with ice, but it takes a while for us because the pool's pretty big If you don't have a pool, try jumping around in the sprinkler or have a watergun fight if you're too mature for that, just bear it. 81 degrees isn't that hot, or maybe get your AC fixed
2 :
it's 84 here in NYC but it's not even hot. it's not humid it's not windy. feels like spring. it's not hot at all at the beach. we don't even use the air conditioner in our house it's not hot at all in NYC even though it's 84 it feels like 65 degrees.
3 :
81? Oh, my freaking god! I wish it was that cool here...that's not 'heat'! It's 98 here! I've got my A/C set to 81, and it feels like an icebox in my house compared to the outside. Toughen up already!
4 :
So, fix the air conditioning. I have a window unit which I use when needed.
5 :
We are not getting much heat. The beach might offer some relief.
6 :
I lived in Fla three yrs is was too humid but it's my second home, anyway put a cold washcloth on your face and put your face in the freezer for a few seconds if you think about the heat you'll get hotter mom's quote born in fla and eat cold food
7 :
Wow...81 is nothing, it's supposed to hit 101 today. I guess you could always go to the store and hang out there...they usually have ACs going.
8 :
Ya know I'm sorry to say I'm not having that problem this year. I live in Austin Texas and it has rained almost every day for the last 3 month. This years record rain fall, has ended a 6 year drought. Normally it should be in the high 90s already it has barely gotten above the 80's and at night it has really cooled off. It been very civilized. Normally its hot and everything is brown by now. What have we done to our planet?
9 :
Get a towel and put some ice in it. Roll it long ways and then put it on your neck. Sit in front of the fan. If you run out of ice, put cold water on the towel and leave a little wet, not to drippy, and sit in front of the fan. (I used to work in a dry cleaners pressing clothes, no air conditioning, with hot weather. We used towels on our necks and drank lots of weak tea!)
10 :
I have a AC but it doesn't come on when needed. So what I do is sit on the computer with the fan blowing on high in my face Have it in a window and have the window open. Or you could buy a small pool fill it with icey cold water and sit in it with your shades on drinking Ice cold beer. Or Kool Aid or what ever you like to drink.
11 :
it was 106 with 40% humidity today here in vegas. I beat the heat by not bitching about it.
12 :
I used to live in Coronado. I remember how hot it used to get. We didn't have air conditioning. What I used to do was to take a big box fan and put it in the window, facing in. If it is hotter inside than it is outside, this is a good way to bring the outside air in. This works great at night too. It feels like air conditioning. I used to jump into a cool shower or hang out in a cool bath sometimes too. I remember people getting on my case for feeling hot when the temp was only 81. However, it was too hot for me. Now we live in the midwest and the temp was in the high 90's for weeks. Fortunately, we have central air here so I just stay inside. Save your pennies. Maybe next year you can invest in one small window air conditioning unit. They sometimes go on sale at the end of the summer. It's rough living in the heat with no way to keep cool. Good luck, my friend.

About Are these good enough credentials to become a firefighter/Paramedic/Rescue worker

Are these good enough credentials to become a firefighter/Paramedic/Rescue worker?
Hello, an American male, 22 years of age, and these are my credentials/resume, I am wondering if they are enough to get a good paying job as a firefighter/paramedic/rescue worker in the USA (Western Coast, California). I might also be interested in getting a similar job in continental Europe (Denmark-Norway, so would these help as well?) Here they are: 2 Year degree in Fire Science(Local Community College) 2 Year degree in Fire Protection(Same college, though I double majored on these 2 subjects) Certified Red Card Holder(Professional certification in Wild land fire suppression and equipment) Certified Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic(highest category, goes from basic, intermediate, to paramedic in my state) 500 Hours of Volunteer work at my Local Fire Department (Santa Ana, California) 1000 Hours of Volunteer work at the Search and Rescue (Mt. Baldy, California) I was also in the Fireman Explorer program when I was 15-17 years old, is a program for youth that is to teach them the core competency of being a firefighter and helps getting them in physical and mental shape to do so, there is no certification for it, but I got a small certificate proving I did it and showing my hours. The only problem is that I don't have a high school diploma, I dropped out because I did not have enough credits (Because I was home schooled the first 2 years of highschool, and my district did not recognize my first 2 years, so my choices were to continue high school until I was 20 years old, or start my career training at 18, I chose the latter, and I'm hoping I dont have to pay for it.) Thanks in advance.

About Relocating to Hemet/Riverside, CA? How do you like living there

Relocating to Hemet/Riverside, CA? How do you like living there?
I currently live in Phoenix and I'm wanting to relocate to the Hemet/Riverside area in about a year. How do you like living in Hemet? Is it a good place to raise a family? I work in the technology field, how are the jobs in that area? I've searched jobs online and I come up with leads in Santa Ana/ San Diego and Riverside. Is there anything (Big Companies) close by? I grew up in SoCal and I miss the heck out of it. I'm used to the heat by now, so as long as I can afford a house, the heat is the least thing to worry about. I don't think the heat in Hemet compares to Phoenix. But living in Phoenix. I'm so used to having everything close by. What about other areas in Riverside County?

The good, the bad, and the ugly.... From a Riverside County Resident who works in technology. The Good. Riverside County and Hemet especially is a great place to raise a family. The small town values seem to be alive and well, and the air is clean and the home prices are affordable. The school systems are good, the taxes are low, and everyone who lives in this area seem to like all the open space and accessibility to the rest of Southern California. The Bad. Not everything is close by and accessible. You are going to be tied to a car to get around. The public transit sucks, and everything is ten to fifteen miles away. The Ugly. Jobs are scarce in high tech. Most of the jobs in the immediate area are for unskilled labor. I have to commute 35 miles to San Bernardino to a Government job. The only large tech sector employers are the various Government agencies. Be prepared for a commute to work that could be as far as 75 miles, and at least 35 miles. As far as the heat, Hemet is up against the base of Mount San Jacinto, so the weather which is hot/cold by coastal standards is pretty much bearable year round. I think your biggest adjustments will be the work thing and the convenience issue.

From what I know there aren't too many jobs out here in the Inland Empire BUT people ARE willing to move out here due to the lower pricing in homes & rent.If you are moving out to Riverside County DO IT FAST!Homes out here are still rising.I bought my home out here 2 years ago @290,000 now its worth 400,000.Regardless of what people say homes out here are rising because lots of people are moving out here due to the fact that we're not to far from the OC(most people work out there) & its impossible to get a house over there. If you are going to work in Santa Ana BE PREPARED for the traffic!! I know Santa Ana & Irvine has alot of jobs in the tech field.I'm not too familiar with the Hemet area but other cities that are growing rapidly & are close to Hemet are Temecula,Lake Elsinore ,North Moreno Valley & Corona(but this city is almost as high priced as OC).These cities are great if you have little ones & like to be outdoors(lots of Lakes nearby). There's also alot of construction going on in all these cities for new homes large shopping centers & schools.I have enjoyed living living out here I even bought another home in one of the cities mentioned above. The only thing I dislike is that I do drive down to OC on the weekends to visit family & the drive bugs the heck outta me( the 91 fwy is TERRIBLE).Well hope I helped a little.Best of Luck in whatever you do! Ps I just read one of the others answers & YES you probably will be tied to a car for everything cause everything is not walking distance! That's why the last house I bought is close to the FWY & shopping centers being built!Make sure you take that into consideration!
